Nil Battey Sannata
My Rating:8.1

Rreview:

I liked the performance of Swara Bhaskar, more than the Sonam Kapoor’s where I had seen her in Raanjhana is a supporting role. The charm and lovingness put by her in the role of BINDIA was amazing.
Now I have seen her in NIL Battey Sannata, where she has got a full lead role, and know what, she proved herself strong by her amazing performance in the role of Chanda Sahay.
Nill Battey Sannata is anyway a kind of women oriented film, as all three main character in focus are female leads, Swara Bhaskar as Chanda Sahay, Riya Sukla, as Apeksha Sahay i.e. Appu and as well as Ratna Pathak as Doctor.
There are very few movies with us dealing with education or education system, i.e Tare Jami Par, 3 Idiots etc. However, this is not the movie to deal with education system, but its about the struggle and sacrifice of a mother to give her daughter a quality life through importance of education.
In our education system 10th class is considered as a greater milestone to progress further in future.
The movie deals about the importance of the education in life in a very unique way by keeping mathematics subject in core of the film, and that to why movie is named as Nill Battey Sannata, a kind of mathematic equation.

The movie is about a lower class single mother, who works as a housemaid to an old doctor couple family. Her daughter, Appu, is in 10th class and is afraid of failing due to inability to score in mathematics particularly.

Along with working as housemaid, she also continues to work in different small shops like shoe making/packing etc for rest of the day, so that she can earn more for her daughter’s better education. She collects money so that she can put daughter in coaching class for the subject of mathematics, in which her daughter is Nill battey Sannanta.

Opposite to …. Efforts, her daughter is careless in studies and always fails in exams especially in maths. ……. She is always worried and anxious because of Appu’s such approach.

The story takes a sweet turn when her mistress, the doctor advices her to encourage her daughter to learn maths and pass the exams in an unique way, and that is, by joining the same school and class as a student where her daughter is studying. By this she can learn and teach her own daughter and encourage her to study harder by giving her a positive completion within same.

However, it turns out that due to this the relationship of mother daughter gets sour, but the mother is doing all this for the good of her daughter’s future and her own dream of seeing her daughter as a collector.

With some ups and downs in …..Finally the hardwork of both, mother and daughter gives sweet fruits, when Appu, becomes a collector.

Performances:

The movies is packed with a dynamite of performances by each character you encounter in film. The character of school principal and mathematics teacher of class 10th is greatly played by…..

…… has once again proved that she has a lot of capability to play characters, be it sweet, dedicated lover in Raanjhana or a dedicated mother here in this film. Actually she is the best choice for this role as she looks good in both as a mother and also she looks younger in the role of class student.
….. also gives a strong performance in his role of bright student of the class. Facial expression and dialog delivery is well crafted by him.

Dialogs:

The writers have given a marvellous touch to the simple narration into unforgettable dialogs.

Specially, the conversation between coaching institute owner and …… where the biter truth is explained very well in very simple but impeccable wordings.
Other than this many one liners make your mood bright, such as, a scene where …..asks a questions in class, and Appu stands up to answer the questions, which is unexpected by …… . The one liners used in the scene make you laugh to the core. (You have to see the movie to feel it)
The one by ….. “Maths yad karne ki nahi Samajhne ki chhej hai”

Or the one, “yeh vrat ka nahi teri shart ka asar hai” and many more in the film.
