And here start the much-awaited summer vacations. Even today it gives a goosebump in the stomach just thinking of our childhood summer vacations. Then we grew up and summer vacations were taken away from us, just like that.
But no issues, we can get those days back in the form of summer vacations for our young ones.
This is the time to enjoy with your kids, this is the time to indulge in your past childhood with your little champs.
Watching movies at home amidst ever-increasing heat waves is a good idea. I am not going to talk about all the known animation 3D movies out there in theatres, but I am going to introduce some little-known gems which you can enjoy with your kids. These movies, along with entertainment, give some moral learnings too, which our young ones can adopt.
So here is the list.
1) Mahek Mirza
After watching this movie, we feel divine for our CINEMA.
The movie takes us back to our golden days of life—the school days, when our hearts were plain papers, pure white, without any stains of the dirty world's issues.
The performance of lead child actress Shreya Sharma (Mahek) is way too good to be described in words. It’s so pure and original that you cannot stop yourself from falling in love with it.
The movie is about a school girl, Mahek Mirza, who imagines a lot, who daydreams a lot. She dreams of ultimate success in all fields, dreams of becoming number-1 in all areas of life. However, Mahek fails to achieve the same in real life always as she is unaware of her ultimate talent.
She gets upset with herself and thinks that she is not the best at anything. Then a modern fairy enters her life and inspires her to find her unique talent.
In the process, she discovers her hidden passion and achieves success.
2) Dhanak
A good movie to show the care and love between a brother and sister. The movie is an adventurous journey of a brother-sister duo to meet Shahrukh Khan in order to get help for the treatment of her brother's eyes.
Throughout the journey, Pari (the sister) takes all good care of her brother. They meet various people and gain various experiences of the world. You will also find yourself indulging in the colors of Rajasthani culture and ambience.
The fusion song "Lal Meri Pat" is yet another slice of enjoyment.
3) I am Kalam
Set against the backdrop of Rajasthani culture, this story is all about a child's dream of getting an education.
4) Halo
A very sensible and emotional film of my childhood time. I really got my eyes moist in the last scene of the film. The story is about a little girl who is alone in her life and desperately needs a good friend.
She finds a little puppy on a fine day, and her search for a friend comes to an end. But this is just the start of the actual story.
After losing her newly found friend, Shahsa gets sad again, and starts the search for her friend. This journey is really heart-melting, with a punch of a climax.
The music of the movie really touches the heart.
5) Gattu
A heartwarming tale of a street child whose obsession with flying kites leads him on a quest to conquer the school roof where an unbeatable kite named "Kali" rules the sky.
6) Fandry
A poignant coming-of-age Marathi film that explores caste discrimination and first love through the eyes of a young boy belonging to a marginalized community.
7) Kaaka Muttai
Two slum-dwelling brothers in Chennai harbor a strong desire to taste a pizza, leading to an inspiring and touching adventure reflecting societal realities with innocence and humor.
8) Killa
A beautifully captured coming-of-age story about a young boy struggling to cope with his mother's transfer to a small Konkan town after his father's passing.
9) Children of Heaven
I am a big fan of Iranian movies. Movies like Children of Heaven, Songs of Sparrows, Turtles Can Fly, The Taste of Cherry, A Separation, Baran, and many more have stolen my heart.
What I like in Iranian cinema is the simplicity and honesty of the camera and the director in showing the real life of people.
This movie tells the story of two children from a poor family sharing a single pair of school shoes between them.
You probably have seen the Indian version of the movie titled Bum Bum Bole, but the original is much better. While watching the movie, it never feels like we are watching a film, but rather that we are living their lives and are fully immersed in it.
10) Color of Paradise
One of the true gems of Iranian cinema, exploring nature, faith, and the pure heart of a blind child seeking his place in the world.
11) Tahaan
Set in the breathtaking yet volatile landscapes of Kashmir, this is a touching story about a young boy's quest to find his beloved pet donkey.
