I loved watching movie named BABEL, which introduces its viewer with a nightmare kind of situation a couple face in an unknown land, while on a trip.
That movie was a great thing to watch as it is too much intense and hard to go through the events which the couple face.
NH10, succeeds to a much extent in creating similar effect on mind.
Majorly set on a night, the movie depicts the darkness of honour killing and helpless situation of a couple trapped unwillingly in the situation.
The movie represents a nightmare on the highway for a couple and the horrifying chase to survive.
Anushka Sharma tried to carry entire movie on her shoulders getting the prime focus in entire movie.
Review:
Meera and Arjun, a married couple embark on a road trip to celebrate Meera’s birthday and a weekend after a long hectic working week in non-stopping city of Delhi.
On their way, they cross their ways as they try to save a newly married couple, Pinky and Mukesh, from bunch of Gundas, who are beating and humiliating both on a dhaba.
Shortly it is revealed that Pinky and Mukesh are love bird and have got married against the wish of their casts and Pinky’s brother is set to kill both as honour killing.
As Arjun and Meera follow them and witness the killing of Pinky and Mukesh, they are chased by these goons.
Despite having the Gun and the car, situation makes Meera and Arjun escape on run from these blood minded goons.
Here starts the chase and horror of being helpless in a no man area, remote somewhere on lonely highway. The movie here is no easy cup of tea for normal Bollywood masala movie lovers, as the movie gets darker and horrifying.
The movie puts you to think, what we can do if we are in such a situation.
The chase scenes are cleverly and beautifully picturised and they grasp you in the scene and you feel horrifying and thrilled.
Another beautiful part of the story and the movie is that the new characters we encounter during chase are found intervened and part of the single Honour killing event. Be it the police, village people and even the head of the village.
Deepti naval, with her talent of expressions steals even the very few scenes towards the end of the movie, giving mixure of expression of a mother of daughter who has just been killed by his own son and that to under her own orders.
The moment we feel that the chase of Meera to escape for survival from goons will end here, another shocking thriller surprise grasps us in another horrifying chase.
Performance wise, As told Anushka Sharma carries entire Burdon of the movie. I think Rajkumar Rao Would have played the role of Arjun in more realistic way as we have seen his talent for such roles very well.
The movie is slap on the honour killing and a massage to fight against it, and simultaneously teaching some tricks if we are stuck up in any such situation ever.
