The retro gets modern touch.

Stories are not old, they are new every time they are told.

At par with Dark Comedy Series "Inside No 9" of BBC. Seemingly simple yet with the perfect twist of tales. I could compare these stories with some of the finest episodes of Inside No 9, such as the Sardines, The Bill, The Riddle of the Sphinx and Diddle Diddle Dumpling.

A good webseries from Netflix.

Review:

Each of the four stories of this Series of RAY, are unique with brilliant execution by directors. No matter you watch which episode first, you will crave for another immediately after getting yourself in the seer magic of Satyjit Ray’s short stories adaption.

1) Forget Me Not

Buried

Forget me Not, will not let you forget the storytelling and the suspense it engulfs and the twist it gives to the story. Check out yet another strong performance of Ali Fazal and a good work of director, specially the editing of the episode, which gives the story a fast pace and suspense intact till end.

2) Spotlight

Cast Away

Handling religion and religious leader in a story and cinema is not an easy task, the spotlight tell the story involving the content fairly well, with the humorous and good twist at end. Though it seemed lowest of all four episode in performance and execution, though it tries to entertain you towards end, with 5 to 7 min screen time of Radhika Madan.

3) Hungama Hai kyon Barpa

Trapped

Hungama Hai kyon Barpa, you get to watch Manoj Vajpayee in yet another humorous role as after Sooraj Pe Mangal Bhari. With intelligent crafting of scenes such as of train toilet to Performing hall, flashback scenes, etc. are good to watch.

4) Bahrupiya

The Platform

With K K Menon in lead role, this story tells the tale of pride, ego and downfall. The various characters played by K K as part of story, reminds me a good movie from Bangladesh, which I watched few months back, named Aynabaji. If you like this part of the RAY, you shouldn’t be missing the Ayanabaji, which has a good story, acting and direction with the theme of a single actor playing different characters. This was also seen with Manoj Vajpayee in Sooraj Pe Mangal Bhari recently.

I wished to see more Characters interwoven and used, in the adaption and should have more darker theme to make it more effective.

In and all, all four stories are entertaining and well crafted by the directors, giving a needed justice to adaption of short stories by Ray.

Must watch, and should have more seasons coming.
