U Turn
My Rating:7.5

Really an intense and serious way of spreading awareness on road safety. Also it is dark massage to those who break the traffic rules.

After watching director Pawan Kumar’s master piece, “Lucia”, I was eagerly waiting and following for his next venture, C10H14N2. Along the way I came across this movie, “U turn”.

Though I did not hear much about it in comparison to Lucia, I had to watch it as I had the feeling somewhere deep in my mind that it will not be simple movie at least, as it is from a talented director.

Review:

And to make it right the movie starts with fulfilling expectation. Opening credit of the movie involves the continuous take of camera moving over the divider of a flyover. This is the flyover which is the centre character of rest of the movie.

Another clever thing of the opening credit scene is the background score, where you can hear “Karma” being sung. You will find in the end of the movie, the significance of word, “Karma” involve in the movie and story.

The story is pivoted around a young trainee, Rachna, of Journalism, working in Bangalore and is keen to write an article on the people who break the rule and take u turn on a double road flyover. An old beggar kind of guy, who shelters on the junction of flyover, helps Rachna to get the vehicle numbers of the persons who take illegal u turn on the flyover, and with the help of her friend in RTO, Rachna finds the address of these persons, to interview them.

All it seems normal going in the story till Rachna approaches her first person for interview for her story. The story takes a suspense turn from here, as she is taken by Police in custody in suspect of Murder of the same person. Slowly Rachna understands that she is in the middle of something very serious as all the persons who broke the traffic rule and took a U Turn from that flyover, did commit suicide on the same day of their U Turn.

Rachna tries to explain and convince this to police but does not get support. Finally she decides to know the facts by her own and takes U turn on same flyover to reveal the truth behind the suicide phenomena. On that night she meets the souls of the mother and daughter who died in an accident on the flyover due to the divider block on the way put by someone who took illegal U turn. And thus it is revealed that the soul kills all the persons who take U Turn and putting someone's life in danger.

Towards the end of the movie, the story takes few really tricky turns and keeps the suspense intact till the last scene, in which the significance of Karma is explained.

This is a beautiful low budget film one can make.

Looking ahead for C10H14N2.

Some scene to mention:

- In a scene, where a young boy is shown taking drug, the CD cover of movie, LUCIA can be seen, which I mentioned in above review.
- In the end credits of the movie, the real footages are shown of the same bridge and people breaking the rule and taking U turns.
